N. Christian Smoot spent his career spanning with the Ocean Survey Program (OSP; 1966-1993) and the World Bathymetry Division (1993-1998) of the U.S. Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO). He has compiled over 200 PS-8 and PS-16 scale charts in addition to thousands of point data charts for the submarine community. The author logged over 1300 at-sea days on NAVOCEANO vessels, most as compilation supervisor or senior scientist, amassing over 600,000 nautical miles including 10 Med cruises, 35 Atlantic cruises, and 22 in the Pacific. He has delivered many talks/presentations up to international in scope in addition to many publications.
