"Inspired by the Stars and Son" is an autobiographical article by Vladimir B Ginzburg published on 19 April 2019 on Beyond Mainstream.

Ginzburg presents his USM theory as a modern version of the vortex tradition running from the Greek philosophers through Kepler, Descartes, Huygens, Leibniz, Helmholtz, Kelvin and both Maxwell and J. J. Thomson — a lineage he notes neither his professors nor his son's teachers ever mentioned. He dates the first insight to a dinner conversation in December 1992, when his son Gene, looking at a crumb of bread, remarked that there was probably another world inside it; a sleepless night later he had formulated what he calls the Spiral Principle.
