'''George Belden Trinkaus''' (born 1936) is an American writer and publisher best known for a series of popular booklets on the electrical technology of [[Nikola Tesla]], issued through his imprint High Voltage Press. His titles include ''[[Tesla: The Lost Inventions]]'', ''[[Tesla Coil]]'', ''[[Son of Tesla Coil]]'', and ''[[Radio Tesla: The Secret of Teslas Radio and Wireless Power|Radio Tesla]]''.

==Biography==
Trinkaus was born in 1936 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In his youth he was a basement electrical experimenter and a novice-class amateur radio operator. He was educated at Mercersburg Academy and at Colgate University, from which he received a BA in 1959, and he later pursued an MA at New York University before undertaking an extended tour of Europe.

In New York he worked as a free-lance medical writer and as a contributor to the ''Encyclopedia Americana''. He held staff editorial and administrative posts at Holt, Rinehart & Winston, Harcourt Brace, Random House, and Macmillan, working in editorial areas that included electronics, industrial technology, linguistics, and lexicography. In 1971 Macmillan transferred him to California, and he has remained on the West Coast since.

Under the name George Belden he wrote an early consumer-advocacy book, ''Tactics of the Bill Collector and How to Fight Back'' (Grosset & Dunlap, 1974), which was serialized in ''Family Circle'' and reissued as a mass-market paperback by Ace. He worked as a book-review writer for the ''L.A. Free Press'' and as book-review editor at the ''Hollywood Daily News''. He was a founder and director of BooksWest, the Los Angeles Book Fair, and editor and publisher of ''BooksWest Magazine'', an alternative magazine of the book industry. His article "The Title Glut," on overproduction and market control in book publishing, was nominated for article of the year in 1978 by the American Library Association's Intellectual Freedom Committee.

Trinkaus moved from Los Angeles to Ojai, California, in 1980, where he was active in local environmental and anti-nuclear causes. He has lived in Oregon since 1989.

==Work==
In the mid-1980s Trinkaus came upon a collection of Nikola Tesla's U.S. patents that had been copied at the National Archives, which prompted his study of Tesla's electrical technology. He set up an electrical laboratory and, over the years 1986–2000, researched, wrote, and published ''Tesla: The Lost Inventions'', ''Tesla Coil'', ''Son of Tesla Coil'', and ''Radio Tesla''. He also edited an edition of Tesla's ''The True Wireless'' and the U.S. Navy manual ''Magnetic Amplifiers''. The titles present Tesla's high-frequency and high-voltage work for the non-specialist reader in plain English with a minimum of mathematics, and are issued by his High Voltage Press and in electronic editions by Wheelock Mountain Press. In Oregon he was a founder of the Portland Tesla Technology Roundtable.

Under the imprint Counter-Propaganda Press, Trinkaus also wrote and published the media critiques ''How the Chronicle Invented AIDS'' and ''NBC Spins 911''.
