In his model these elements interact only through contact, and their constrained translational and rotational motion — including collisions between needles — is proposed to give rise to the phenomena described by conventional physics. He develops this into a "common sense" reinterpretation of quantum mechanics using massless spinning needles as ordinary-object analogues for quantum behaviour, addressing topics such as wave phenomena and entanglement.

Presenting himself as the "Common Sense Quantum Physicist," Dijksman disseminates this work through his website, the blog ''Physics intuitions'', a YouTube channel, and essays such as "Ordinary Analogues for Quantum Mechanics" submitted to the Foundational Questions Institute (FQXi) essay contest.
