'''Anatoly Vachaev''' was a Russian researcher associated with the Department of Thermophysics and Energy Systems at the Magnitogorsk Mining and Metallurgical Academy. He is known for developing the "Energoniva" apparatus and for experiments on electric discharge in water in which he reported the production of large quantities of metal powders. He is listed in ''[[The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists]]''.

==Work==
Vachaev's experiments involved passing distilled water through a sustained plasma discharge, which he described as producing a stable plasmoid resembling a small ball of lightning. He reported that this process generated a black suspension containing powders of iron, manganese and numerous other elements said to span much of the periodic table, which he interpreted as evidence of elemental transmutation.

This work is generally discussed in the context of low-energy nuclear reaction (LENR) or "cold fusion" research, a field outside mainstream physics. The results have been the subject of attempted replications with mixed reported outcomes, and the research is said to have largely stopped after the death of its originators.
