}}

'''Arjen Toni Dijksman''' is an independent researcher who proposes an alternative, geometric model of matter and quantum mechanics that he calls the "materion" or needle model. They are listed in ''[[The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists]]''.

==Ideas==
Dijksman argues that all matter is built from a single kind of elementary object, the "materion," modelled as an undeformable straight line segment (a "needle") of fixed length, having no mass, electric charge, or other intrinsic physical property. In his model these elements interact only through contact, and their constrained translational and rotational motion — including collisions between needles — is proposed to give rise to the phenomena described by conventional physics. He develops this into a "common sense" reinterpretation of quantum mechanics using massless spinning needles as ordinary-object analogues for quantum behaviour, addressing topics such as wave phenomena and entanglement.

Presenting himself as the "Common Sense Quantum Physicist," Dijksman disseminates this work through his website, the blog ''Physics intuitions'', a YouTube channel, and essays such as "Ordinary Analogues for Quantum Mechanics" submitted to the Foundational Questions Institute (FQXi) essay contest. These proposals lie outside the mainstream framework of physics.

==Background==
Dijksman holds a Ph.D. in physics from the Université Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris (2013), where his doctoral work concerned time-resolved spectroscopy of core-shell CdSe–CdS quantum dots, and an M.Sc. in optics from the Institut d'Optique. He has worked as an IT consultant.
