'''Bibhas R. De''' is a physicist and author known for his alternative theoretical work on electromagnetism and his criticism of Big Bang cosmology. He is listed in ''[[The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists]]''.

==Background==
De studied astronomy at the University of Michigan and received a Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego, where he was a doctoral student of the plasma physicist Hannes Alfvén.

==Ideas==
De proposes the concept of a "source-free magnetic structure," which he describes as a finite, static configuration of magnetic field lines existing in empty space with no currents or sources within it, obtained as a solution of Maxwell's equations. He argues that such a magnetostatic field constitutes the physical presence of something possessing mass, and that the relationship between this mass and the field energy does not follow the usual mass-energy relation, a departure he labels "TransEinsteinian" and "TransMaxwellian" physics. These claims lie outside mainstream physics.

De has also been a vocal critic of Big Bang cosmology. In his book ''The Falsifiers of the Universe: Big Bang Cosmology — The First Fraud in the Final Frontier'', he disputes the standard interpretation of cosmological observations, including data from the COBE mission and the cosmic microwave background.
