The dispute is foundational to much of this wiki. In special relativity, time is a coordinate mixed with space by the Lorentz transformation, and simultaneity is relative. Against this, researchers here argue variously for &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;absolute or universal time&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; in the Newtonian sense; for a &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Lorentzian&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; reading in which moving clocks are physically slowed relative to a preferred frame while time itself is unaffected; and for the position — associated with neo-Hertzian electrodynamics — that if time is independent of space then the total time derivative d/dt is frame-independent and is the operator physics ought to use.&lt;br /&gt;
