'''Douglas Pinnow''' (Douglas A. Pinnow) is a physicist and author known for an alternative approach to the unification of physics presented in the book ''Our Resonant Universe: A New Look at the Unification of Physics''. He is listed in ''[[The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists]]''.

==Background==
Pinnow received a bachelor's degree in engineering physics from Cornell University in 1961 and a PhD in physics from the Catholic University of America.

==Work==
In ''Our Resonant Universe: A New Look at the Unification of Physics'' (AuthorHouse, 2003), co-authored with Kirk Miller, Pinnow proposes what the authors call the "resonance model." The model describes physical unification within the framework of a spectrum of electromagnetic standing waves, applying an electromagnetic approach to elemental matter and nuclear reactions in an attempt to relate mass, spin, and charge to the four fundamental forces. The authors present the model as an alternative to the standard model and to string theory, seeking to avoid what they describe as arbitrary constants and higher-dimensional mathematics. The book was self-published and its approach lies outside the scientific mainstream.
