'''Erik David Andrulis''' is an American molecular biologist known for proposing a single unifying "gyre" model that he claims explains life, matter and the cosmos. He is listed in ''[[The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists]]''.

==Work==
At the time of his best-known publication, Andrulis was an assistant professor in the Department of Molecular Biology and Microbiology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio, where his laboratory studied RNA processing.

In 2012 he published a 105-page paper, "Theory of the Origin, Evolution, and Nature of Life," in the open-access journal ''Life''. In it he introduced the "gyre" as a hypothetical fundamental entity, a cyclical process that he argues operates at every scale from the subatomic to the cosmic and that unifies the origin of life with physics and chemistry. The paper attracted wide attention and substantial criticism in the scientific press for its sweeping scope and unconventional framework, which lie well outside the scientific mainstream.

Andrulis subsequently extended the idea into what he titled a "Complete and Consistent Theory of the Universe," in which the "gyromodel" is offered as an explanation for the origin of the universe and for phenomena such as dark energy and dark matter. These cosmological claims have not been accepted by the physics community.
