===Crossene: a new allotrope of carbon===&lt;br /&gt;
Bailey&amp;#039;s starting point is that carbon runs the modern world — petroleum, coal, natural gas, plastics, photosynthesis — but that pure carbon holds value well beyond its use as a fuel, in the form of distinct allotropes whose very different properties follow from different bonding regimes. Diamond and graphite differ in structure because they differ in bonding; the fullerene allotrope, discovered in 1985 as a volatile spherical molecule of sixty carbon atoms and named for the geodesic-dome architect Buckminster Fuller, added a third regime.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Bailey and his colleagues describe a route to a further allotrope. An enclosed pressure detonation of graphite yields small carbon nano-onions, formed by thermal conversion of initially isolated and less thermodynamically stable nano-diamonds. These onions, typically six to eight concentric shells, are expanded by a new high-temperature annealing process to twenty or thirty layers, a process which also fuses the individual onions into chains. Bailey&amp;#039;s account is that the chained onions then disintegrate and reintegrate into a distinct new form, which the group calls &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;crossene&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, characterised by extraordinary thermodynamic stability and by an exceptional degree of electron delocalisation that crosses between layers.&lt;br /&gt;

The patent material claims that crossene onions carry roughly double to triple the layer count of conventionally studied nano-onion materials derived from nano-diamond feedstock, that the units exist fused together in a cocoon or envelope, that the BET surface area is around a tenth that of some fifty comparison nano-onion materials, and that thermal stability measured by thermogravimetric analysis is significantly superior to all of them. Bailey places crossene as the most thermodynamically stable of the carbon allotropes, ahead of fullerene, then graphite and graphene, and finally diamond.&lt;br /&gt;

Bailey has further reported that graphene, fullerene and crossene, though all built from trigonally substituted carbons, each carry their own distinct bonding system, and he introduces new bonding concepts for the nanocarbon allotropes on that basis. He has also reported biological results, stating that these new allotropes fed to mice show antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity he describes as unparalleled, comparable to ormus materials, and associated with a threefold to fivefold increase in murine lifespan. ===Coherency and the Kekulé argument===&lt;br /&gt;
In his later talks Bailey generalises the idea of &amp;#039;&amp;#039;coherency&amp;#039;&amp;#039; — the reinforcement of an effect by the coherent alignment of repeating parts, the principle by which the laser works. He traces the chemical case to August Kekulé, arguing that Kekulé&amp;#039;s solution to the benzene problem 150 years ago identified a resonance stabilisation energy arising from the coherent alignment of carbon and hydrogen atoms at identical bond lengths and angles.&lt;br /&gt;

Bailey argues that Kekulé thereby described a bonding system beyond both traditional valence bonding and Linus Pauling&amp;#039;s sigma/pi framework. Instead of the Periodic Table&amp;#039;s picture of individual atoms as separate &amp;quot;solar systems&amp;quot; of electron orbitals, he proposes a new order of diffuse carbon atoms whose exceptional properties and thermodynamic stability arise from molecular orbitals forming what he calls a galactic Milky Way of carbon atoms. That strained picture, he argues, cannot account for the exceptional thermodynamic stability actually observed in C60.&lt;br /&gt;

His proposed replacement is the non-Euclidean perfect sphere of infinity, which he says transcends the geodesic-dome limitation while preserving the uniform bond lengths and angles that coherency requires. Bailey draws a wider conclusion from this: that the stubborn retention of Euclidean mathematics in preference to non-Euclidean conceptualisations holds physics hostage, and that Einstein&amp;#039;s theory of relativity is consequently incomplete. He proposes instead a systemic law of unification that overcomes what he calls the dilemma of opposites, in which the relative values of infinity — zero and one — must be embraced, and in which any number is treated as an approximation of that number relative to the precision of the instrument measuring it. In his framing, one may build finite systems without rejecting their infinite qualities, leaving the door open to further visionary development.&lt;br /&gt;
