			Sekerin was born on 29 May 1934 in the Altai region of Russia. He pursued studies in physics and mathematics and later carried out his research in Novosibirsk, the Siberian scientific centre that hosts the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Over several decades he directed a series of critical appeals and correspondence on the subject of relativity to the Russian Academy of Sciences and its officials.

			Sekerin is an advocate of the [[Ritz ballistic theory]] (also called the emission theory) of light, an alternative to special relativity in which the velocity of light emitted by a moving source combines with the velocity of that source. On this basis he rejects the second postulate of special relativity, the constancy of the speed of light, and argues that light from a source moving toward an observer travels at a speed of c + v.

			To support this position, Sekerin re-examined classical astronomical observations, including those of [[Ole Rømer]] and [[James Bradley]], as well as observations of [[binary star\|binary stars]], arguing that they are better interpreted through a ballistic model of light propagation than through relativity. These arguments were set out in his 1987 paper "Gnosiological Peculiarities in the Interpretation of Observations" and in his later books.

			In 2007 he published ''The Theory of Relativity — Mystification of the 20th Century'', and in 2009 ''The Theory of Relativity — Masterpiece of Charlatans'', both in Novosibirsk, in which he characterized special relativity as scientifically unfounded. In 2010 Sekerin submitted an appeal to the Russian Academy of Sciences calling for relativity to be refuted and removed from educational literature; the Academy did not accept the appeal.
