Christopher Bremner is a researcher known for work, carried out with David Noever, on proposals to relate quantum-vacuum (zero-point) energy to gravity and propulsion. He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.
Work
Bremner co-authored, with David Noever of NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center, the paper "Large-Scale Sakharov Condition," presented at the 35th AIAA/ASME/SAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference and Exhibit in 1999 (AIAA paper 1999-2146). The work draws on Andrei Sakharov's 1968 conjecture that gravitation may arise from changes in the zero-point energy of the vacuum, and on the Casimir effect — the attractive force between two closely spaced uncharged plates attributed to vacuum energy — to explore whether such vacuum-energy effects might be realised or exploited on larger scales.
The paper appeared in the context of speculative "breakthrough propulsion" and new-energy research, a field that lies outside mainstream physics and has been met with skepticism because proposals to extract usable energy or thrust from the quantum vacuum are widely regarded as unproven.
