Scott Gerard Lesch (1965 – July 15, 2019) was an American craftsman and builder from the Binghamton, New York, area with a self-directed interest in physics and natural philosophy. Largely self-taught, he read widely in the sciences and wrote two manuscripts of his own.
Biography
Lesch lived in Windsor, New York, and worked throughout the Binghamton region as a craftsman and builder, constructing homes and specializing in cabinetry and roofing. Away from his trade he immersed himself in books on physics, earth sciences, politics, and architecture. He died at his home in Windsor on July 15, 2019, at the age of 54, following a short illness.
Work
Lesch approached science as a self-taught reader rather than through formal academic training. His interests centered on physics and the earth sciences, and he authored two manuscripts drawn from his private study. In the final months of his life he also began researching ways to support the small-business economy of Binghamton.
