Cameron Mercer (born September 23, 1992) is an American independent student and researcher, originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, who is a supporter of the alternative electromagnetic theories of Ivor Catt. Mercer is largely self-taught, having pursued an extensive program of self-education in the sciences and philosophy in place of formal secondary schooling.

Biography

Mercer, who grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, developed an interest in the sciences from an early age. Finding formal education insufficiently deep, Mercer chose to pursue self-directed study, later expanding into philosophy with a focus on critical-thinking tools such as the Socratic method and dialectic. Rather than pursue formal secondary education, Mercer opted for self-teaching.

In 2011, following a chance encounter with [/php/people/Forrest_Bishop Forrest Bishop] and [/php/people/Ivor_Catt Ivor Catt], Mercer evaluated Catt's ideas and became a supporter of them. Shortly afterward, Bishop began guiding Mercer's self-education, a relationship that developed into a full mentorship.

Mercer's interests include composing and playing music, on both piano and guitar, as well as economics and outdoor activities. Over a period of more than ten years, Mercer developed an extensive background in programming that grew to encompass computer engineering, game design, explicit logic flow, and topics such as marketing and presentation. Mercer was active in programming communities and frequently wrote articles sharing techniques, particularly on the subject of artificial intelligence.

Mercer has expressed a philosophy of learning topics thoroughly enough to be able to teach them, regarding the sharing of knowledge as essential.
