Abstract
This report contains a short excursus on the origin of relativity concept, not only to supplement a widespread one-sided image of this important stage of the history of natural science, but also to recall those forgotten approaches to relativity theory that cast light on its close relation to the concepts of classical physics. We emphasize certain statements of A. Poincare and H.A. Lorentz which help us to penetrate deeper into the essence of relativity theory.
