Francis X. Roarty (also credited as Fran Roarty) is an engineer and independent researcher known for his writings on hydrino theory and low-energy nuclear reactions ("new energy"). He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.
Ideas
Roarty writes in support of Randell Mills' claim that hydrogen can occupy states below the conventional ground state (so-called "hydrinos"), producing more energy than ordinary chemistry allows. In a 2009 essay he argued that experiments at Rowan University had independently confirmed excess heat consistent with Mills' Black Light Process. Roarty proposes an interpretation in which such sub-ground-state behaviour arises inside Casimir-like cavities, where he suggests time-dilation and Lorentz-contraction effects scale hydrogen atoms toward a new force balance. He has argued that the dispute over whether hydrinos are physical reflects a relativity-like frame difference in which "both sides are correct." These interpretations lie outside the accepted physics of atomic hydrogen and are not endorsed by mainstream science. In an accompanying biographical note he describes himself as a systems engineer whose background includes engineering physics, electronics, avionics, and R&D prototyping.
