Paramahamsa Tewari (6 January 1937 – 27 November 2017) was an Indian electrical engineer, nuclear-project executive and independent theorist who developed the Space Vortex Theory (SVT), in which matter, mass, electric charge and the fields of physics are derived from vortex motion in a fluid, non-material space. Professionally he rose to Executive Director (Nuclear Projects) of the Nuclear Power Corporation of India and was Project Director of the Kaiga Atomic Power Project; privately he spent four decades building the theoretical and experimental case that space itself is the primary reality and that energy can be drawn from it. He also designed and tested a "Space Power Generator" (SPG), later developed as a reactionless AC synchronous generator (RLG), which he and several engineers who measured it reported as operating above unity efficiency — a claim that places his work squarely outside mainstream physics.

Biography

Paramahamsa Tewari was born on January 6, 1937, and graduated in Electrical Engineering in 1958 from Banaras Engineering College, India, and held responsible positions in large engineering construction organizations, mostly in Nuclear Projects of the Department of Atomic Energy, India. He was also deputed abroad for a year at Douglas Point Nuclear Project, Canada. He retired in 1997 from his position as Executive Nuclear Director, Nuclear Power Corporation, Department of Atomic Energy, India, and is the former Project Director of the Kaiga Atomic Power Project.

Over a career of roughly four decades with India's atomic energy establishment he served in posts including Installation Superintendent, Deputy Chief Engineer, Chief of Transmission and Head of Quality Assurance at several atomic power stations, and worked at the Douglas Point Nuclear Generating Station in Canada in 1964. After retirement he lived at Karwar, in Karnataka near the Kaiga station, where he continued his theoretical work and his generator experiments. He died on 27 November 2017 in the region of his home town near Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, survived by his wife Venodini and their children.

Fundamentals of physics attracted Tewari's imaginations right from the early school and college days. Over the last two decades his new ideas on the basic nature of space, energy, and matter have concretized into definite shape from which a new theory (Space Vortex Theory) has emerged. The theory reveals the most basic issue of relationship between space and matter precisely pinpointing that space is a more fundamental entity than matter. The physical significance of mass, inertia, gravitation, charge and light are revealed by extending the analysis in the theory beyond material properties and into the substratum of space, which again is broken down into fieldless voids, thus showing the limit to which a physical theory can possibly reach. The real universe is shown to be opposite to the current concepts of concrete-matter and empty space. He authored seven books on Space Vortex Theory. He lectured as an invited speaker at international conferences in Germany, the USA and Italy on the newly discovered phenomenon of Space Power Generation.

Scientific contributions

Space Vortex Theory

Space Vortex Theory begins by inverting the usual ontology of physics. Where standard physics treats matter as substantial and space as an empty container (or, in general relativity, as a geometry), Tewari treated space as the one substantial entity and matter as a structure within it. In SVT the vacuum is an eternally existing, non-material, incompressible, non-viscous, massless, continuous and isotropic fluid substratum, and it possesses a limiting flow velocity equal to the speed of light. Nothing in the theory is "made of" anything but this moving space.

From these postulates Tewari derived the electron as an irrotational vortex of space. Where the circulating space would have to exceed its own limiting speed — at the vortex centre — it breaks down and a spherical fieldless void is created, a true discontinuity in the field, on the order of 10-11 cm in radius. This central void is the key construct of the theory:

  • Mass is not a primitive quantity but the measure of the void created at the vortex centre; the electron's mass follows from the volume of the void and the limiting speed of light rather than being inserted by hand.
  • Charge arises from the velocity field of space circulating around the void at the limiting speed; charge is thus a kinematic property of space flow, and Tewari derived the electron's charge from geometry and light speed rather than measuring it in.
  • Fields — electrostatic, magnetic and gravitational — are, on this view, distinct states of motion of the same space medium, so unification is structural rather than mathematical.
  • Because the centre is a genuine void rather than a point singularity, the classical divergence of the electron's self-energy does not arise: SVT replaces the point charge of standard electrodynamics with a finite, structured object.
  • Extending the same vortex picture to astronomical scales, Tewari treated the Sun and planets as products of large-scale space vortices, and in "On Planetary Motion Caused by Solar Space-Vortex" argued that planetary motion is carried by the solar space vortex rather than produced by action-at-a-distance attraction.

The theory is explicitly an absolute-space theory: it reinstates a real, detectable substratum, and Tewari held that the relativistic denial of such a medium had blocked physics from seeing the structure of the electron. He also drew openly on Vedantic cosmology, in which space (akasha) is the first element from which the others proceed, and regarded the modern derivation and the ancient formulation as converging on the same conclusion. His book Spiritual Foundations (1996) develops that side of his thought.

Space Power Generation and the reactionless generator

Tewari's most controversial claim followed directly from the theory. If space is a real medium with energy-bearing structure, and if charge can be created by the rotation of space, then a machine that rotates a conducting magnetic mass should be able to draw electrical power from the substratum rather than only from its mechanical input. He argued this in papers with deliberately provocative titles — "Limitation on the Law of Energy Conservation" (1996) and "Violation of Conservation of Charge in Space Power Generation Phenomenon" — holding that conservation of energy and of charge are valid for material interactions but are not the final law once creation of charge from space is admitted.

The experimental line began with Faraday's 1832 homopolar (unipolar) generator, in which a conducting disc and a co-rotating disc magnet still produce an EMF even though there is no relative motion between conductor and magnet — an effect Tewari regarded as the plainest laboratory evidence that the field belongs to space and not to the magnet. His Space Power Generator was a development of this homopolar configuration, and he reported machine efficiencies above 100%, at one point stating "the efficiency of space power generation in this particular machine as 211.8%". Tewari corresponded extensively with the American researcher Bruce DePalma, who had independently reported excess output from rotating magnetic systems he called the "N-machine"; their joint work was collected in How to Generate Electricity Without Consuming Any Fuel: Collected Papers of Dr. Bruce DePalma and Dr. Paramahamsa Tewari (1990).

In his later years Tewari moved from the homopolar design to a Reactionless AC Synchronous Generator (RLG), built from conventional generator materials but with the magnetic circuit configured so that the back-torque normally produced when current is drawn — the Lenz's-law reaction that makes a loaded generator harder to turn — is cancelled. If back-torque is cancelled, output can be increased without a matching increase in the mechanical drive power. Tewari and the engineers who tested the machines reported efficiencies rising to figures in the region of 200–250%; one widely cited run produced 6.6 kVA at a reported efficiency of 238%. Testing was reported by engineers from the Nuclear Power Corporation of India and the Karnataka Power Corporation, and the Indian generator manufacturer Kirloskar is reported to have replicated and tested a machine, with company engineers appearing on camera to describe their results in the 2015 documentary Out of the Void, which premiered at the Vienna International Film Festival.

These results have not been accepted by mainstream physics, which regards over-unity operation as impossible in principle, and no peer-reviewed independent confirmation exists. Tewari's own position was that the excess is not "free" energy in the sense of something from nothing, but energy drawn from the real space substratum described by SVT, and that the apparent violation of conservation is a sign that the conventional law is incomplete rather than that the measurement is wrong.
