Erwin Saxl was "a physicist, who together with Mildred Allen, confirmed the ?Allais effect' when they measured significant variations in the period of a torsion pendulum during a solar eclipse in 1970." - Wikipedia

His torsion pendulum experiments have profound implications for inertial propulsion and gravity shielding. A native of Austria, Saxl lived in Rhode Island for some time, but died in Melbourne, Florida.
