Mihail Anatolyevich Surin (Russian: Михаил Анатольевич Сурин; born 31 October 1949) is a Russian engineer and researcher who works in the field of etherodynamics, a theory that seeks to explain physical phenomena through the properties of a material aether. He is known for organizing and compiling research materials on the subject and for experimental work associated with the etherodynamic school of the Russian engineer Vladimir Akimovich Atsyukovsky.
Biography
Surin was born on 31 October 1949 and resides in Moscow, Russia. He became active in the etherodynamics research community, which studies models of the aether as a gas-like medium underlying matter and physical fields. In November 2012 he created an online resource, surin-ether.narod.ru, dedicated to gathering works on etherodynamics into a single library of theories, links, and experiments, after concluding that discussion scattered across internet forums was an inefficient way to organize such knowledge. Through this project he also arranged seminars and presentations on the topic, including a seminar held at the TsNII Kometa research institute and a presentation at a 2012 congress.
Work
Surin is associated with the Etherodynamic Laboratory named after Thales of Miletus (Russian: Эфиродинамическая лаборатория им. Фалеса Милетского, ELIMF), an initiative established in November 2018 within the etherodynamics movement led by Vladimir Akimovich Atsyukovsky. In connection with this work he has been described as an engineer and deputy head of the laboratory. His experimental interests include attempts to register what proponents describe as "non-electromagnetic" aether radiation in gas-discharge processes and gas lasers.
His broader activity has centered on assembling and disseminating etherodynamic literature and organizing seminars and conference presentations intended to promote the aether-based approach to natural science advanced by Atsyukovsky. These ideas fall outside the framework of mainstream contemporary physics.
