Antirelativus (full title: Antirelativus: Rationale Physik gegen magisch-paradoxe Theorie — "Antirelativus: Rational Physics against Magical-Paradoxical Theory") is a German-language book by Gotthard Barth, first published in 1954 (with later editions).

Overview

The book is a sustained critique of Einstein's special theory of relativity from the standpoint of what Barth called "rational physics." He rejects the relativistic treatment of space, time, and simultaneity as paradoxical and "magical," and argues for a return to classical, common-sense physical concepts. The work is a foundational text of Barth's "rational physics" movement.

About the author

Gotthard Barth (1900–1985) was an Austrian private scholar who from 1953 set out to refute classical thermodynamics and special relativity. He founded the journal Wissen im Werden (1957) and, with Karl Sapper and Ernst Gehrcke, the "Society for Rational Physics and Natural Philosophy" (1958); his books include Antirelativus, Rationale Physik, and Das Eine und das Werden.
