Farzan Amini is an Iranian engineer and new-energy researcher known for proposing that low-energy nuclear reactions (LENR, or "cold fusion") occur in hydroelectric machinery and in a range of natural systems. He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.

Work

Amini has been described as a mechanical manager for the Farab Corporation in Iran, a builder of hydroelectric dams. He argues that jet-plasma and cavitation processes in high-flow hydro machinery can trigger cold-fusion-type reactions, and has extended this "vorticity-fusion" idea to phenomena such as the air–sea interface and global warming, the rheology of blood ("tribonucleation fusion"), volcanoes and wildfires. His writing has appeared in the fringe-science journal Infinite Energy, including an analysis interpreting the 2009 Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric station accident in Russia in terms of low-energy nuclear reactions.

These claims fall outside the scientific mainstream, which does not recognize low-energy nuclear reactions as an established phenomenon.
