Frederick Osman is a physicist and physics educator known for collaborative research on inertial fusion, low-energy nuclear reactions, and models of nuclear structure. He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.
Work
Osman has published as a co-author with the laser-fusion physicist Heinrich Hora and others on topics in plasma and nuclear physics. In a 2008 paper in Physics Essays (vol. 21, issue 3), co-authored with N. Ghahramali, H. Hora, G. H. Miley, M. Ghanaatian, M. Hooshmand and K. Philberth, he examined nuclear magic numbers using a quark-like model, comparing them with a Boltzmann-distribution model of nuclear abundance in the universe and with low-energy nuclear reactions. This line of work, which connects nuclear structure to "new energy" and low-energy nuclear reaction concepts, lies outside the mainstream of accepted nuclear physics.
