Dezso Sarkadi (born 28 March 1948) is a Hungarian physicist known for his experimental and theoretical work on what he terms "dynamic gravity," together with alternative models of physical mass, atomic structure and the foundations of physics. He is associated with the Research Center of Fundamental Physics in Paks, Hungary.

Biography

Sarkadi was trained as a physicist and spent much of his working career in Hungary's nuclear industry, serving as a radiation safety supervisor at the Paks Nuclear Power Plant, the country's first nuclear power station. Alongside his professional duties he pursued independent research into the foundations of physics, later founding and leading the Research Center of Fundamental Physics (RFP) in Paks. Much of his experimental work was carried out in collaboration with L. Bodonyi.

Scientific contributions

Sarkadi's best-known research concerns gravitational measurements between comparable ("commensurable") masses using a physical pendulum. From these experiments he reported gravitational effects, in both attractive and repulsive forms, which he named "dynamic gravity" and interpreted as arising from the relative motion of the interacting bodies. He extended this idea into a mass-oscillator model, which he proposed could also be applied to the dynamics of the solar system.

In his theoretical work Sarkadi advanced a "self-momentum" theory of physical mass, in which the observed mass of a system is held to depend not only on the masses of its constituents but also on their internal kinetic and potential energies. Within this framework atomic nuclei are treated as quantized oscillators with ground and excited states, and he proposed a corresponding model for the calculation of atomic mass. He has also written on the appearance of the golden ratio in physics and on the relationship between light and gravity.

Sarkadi's proposals fall outside the mainstream of accepted physics and are presented by him as alternative interpretations offered alongside established theory.
