Arturo Raúl Cortés (born 1962) is a Mexican author, inventor, and composer based in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. He is known for a series of self-published essays that present his own interpretation of entropy and related thermodynamic concepts, which he distributes under the name Laboratorio Kazumi.
Biography
Cortés was born in 1962 and resides in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, in northern Mexico. He works independently, outside of an academic institution, describing himself as an inventor, author, and composer. He publishes and distributes his writings through the label Laboratorio Kazumi.
Work
Cortés is the author of a series of short essays on the nature of entropy, energy, and time. In these writings he argues that entropy should be understood as a universal, natural mechanism that maintains order and organization in the universe, rather than as a measure of disorder. His texts on entropy have been issued in several revised versions and translated into more than twenty languages, including Spanish, English, French, Italian, Finnish, and Serbian.
His essays have been made freely available online and through print-on-demand publishing. They have been posted on document-sharing platforms such as SlideShare and the Internet Archive, and offered as free electronic books and low-cost paperbacks through the self-publishing service Bubok. In addition to entropy, related pieces address the concepts of energy and time.
His interpretations of entropy and thermodynamics are self-published and have not appeared in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
