Jac van Egmond is a Dutch aerospace engineer and aerodynamics consultant based in Delft, Netherlands. He is the founder of the aerodynamic design consultancy mvAERO (MV Aero) and specialises in computational fluid dynamics (CFD).

Biography

Van Egmond studied at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) and works in the field of aerospace engineering and aerodynamics. He is based in Delft, in the Dutch province of Zuid-Holland. He founded mvAERO, an aerodynamic design and CFD consultancy that works on aerodynamic projects in both the private and academic sectors.

Work

Van Egmond's professional work centres on computational fluid dynamics and aerodynamic design. His CFD activities have included high-fidelity large-eddy simulations, evaluation of static flight conditions, analysis of propeller–fuselage interactions, and study of boundary-layer control methods. His aeronautical design work has covered propeller and impeller geometry, engine exhaust systems, and low-drag design.

He collaborated with the American designer John McGinnis on the Synergy Aircraft project, a proposed single-engine light aircraft whose closed "double box tail" wing configuration is intended to reduce induced drag and improve stall resistance. Van Egmond contributed to the aerodynamic analysis of the design and has represented the project publicly, including presentations on CFD and aerodynamics at the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh event.
