Rogers Velzaquez Follansbee is a psychologist and philosopher based in Pamplona, Navarra, Spain, best known for developing a framework he calls "Structured Psychology". His work applies the logic of cause and effect to human behavior, arguing that a person's thoughts, feelings and actions follow the same underlying principles that govern existence itself.
Biography
Follansbee earned a master's degree in philosophy from the University of Navarra in Pamplona, Spain. In 1971 he obtained a master's degree in clinical psychology from the Complutense University of Madrid. Between 1969 and 1974, during his post-graduate studies at the University of Navarra, he taught undergraduate courses in "The History of Psychology" and "Psycho Diagnostics" and led graduate seminars in which he first presented his emerging theory. In 1974 he defended his doctoral dissertation, La Teoría de la Relacionabilidad, and graduated Summa Cum Laude.
Work
Follansbee is the author of a body of work he terms "Structured Psychology", which grew out of his doctoral thesis La Teoría de la Relacionabilidad ("The Theory of Relationability"). The approach examines how human lives follow logical guidelines and cause-and-effect dynamics comparable to those observed in the natural world, and it seeks to explain who a person is and why they think, feel and act as they do. His ideas are presented for a general readership in the book It's Not Your Fault: Structured Psychology is all about you, written with Leah Donell.
