Electromagnetic Theory, Volume 1 is a 1979 book by the electronics engineer Ivor Catt, published by C.A.M. Publishing.
Overview
The book is the first volume of Catt's presentation of his "energy current" theory of electromagnetism, in which electromagnetic energy propagates as a transverse electromagnetic (TEM) step travelling at the speed of light in the dielectric between conductors. From this Catt reinterprets charge, current, and the capacitor, and lays the groundwork for his "Theory C" and the "Catt Question." It is continued in Electromagnetic Theory, Volume 2 (see also Electromagnetism I).
About the author
Ivor Catt (1935–2024) was a British electronics engineer known for pioneering work on high-speed digital interconnection and for a long-running critique of conventional electromagnetic theory. See also his Digital Hardware Design.
