Daniel Berenyi (born March 25, 1954) is a Hungarian American independent researcher based in Honolulu, Hawaii, United States, who works on questions in Physics concerning Gravity and Kinetic Energy. He is known within the dissident-science community for his critical re-examination of the classical concept of kinetic energy.
Biography
Berenyi is of Hungarian origin and is based in Honolulu, Hawaii. Working outside of the mainstream academic setting, he has pursued independent research into the foundations of physics, focusing on the concepts of energy, motion, and gravity. His work has been published through the General Science Journal, a venue associated with critics of established physics.
Work
Berenyi's principal contribution is the paper "The Wrong Kinetic Energy" (2013), in which he re-examines the classical formula for kinetic energy. He notes the historical distinction in modern physics between kinetic energy and field energy, and traces the roots of the kinetic energy concept to the mv² formula associated with Gottfried Leibniz, later supported by Émilie du Châtelet in opposition to Isaac Newton and her French contemporaries. Berenyi argues that, beyond these metaphysical origins, the classical reduction of the kinetic energy formula contains what he regards as critical errors. On this basis he calls for a reconsideration of the natural philosophy of energy by motion.
