Xavier Borg (B. Eng. Hons.) is a Maltese electrical and mechanical engineer and independent researcher, and the founder of Blaze Labs Research in Malta. He is known for his work in alternative physics, including the Electro-Magnetic Radiation Pressure (EMRP) push-gravity theory, the "ST system of units" proposed as a route to the unification of physics, and experimental studies of high-voltage electrohydrodynamic ("lifter") devices. His theoretical proposals fall outside mainstream physics and have been received critically by academic commentators.

Biography

Borg graduated from a Mechanical and Electrical Engineering course in 1992. Over the course of his engineering career he worked in a semiconductor manufacturing plant, as a cellular network manager, as a designer of test equipment for television production lines, as a designer of high-voltage power supplies, as a designer of radio broadcast transmission stations, and as the manager of a satellite business firm, before dedicating himself to independent scientific research. He carries out this research through Blaze Labs Research, based in Malta.

Scientific contributions

Borg's independent research spans several topics in fundamental physics, all of which sit outside the framework of mainstream theory.

His best-known theoretical proposal is the Electro-Magnetic Radiation Pressure (EMRP) gravity theory, a "push gravity" model in which gravitation is not treated as an attractive force but as the net result of an external pressure exerted on matter by high-energy electromagnetic radiation. Borg has argued that this framework accounts for gravitational effects and has proposed experiments intended to distinguish EMRP push gravity from conventional attractive-gravity models.

Borg also developed the ST system of units, in which he attempts to express every physical quantity purely in terms of dimensions of space (S) and time (T). He presents this dimensional scheme as revealing common structure among the different force-field equations and as "leading the way to unification" of the fundamental interactions. Critics have argued that the ST system amounts to a redefinition of units rather than a physical derivation; the mathematician Mark Chu-Carroll characterized Borg's electromagnetic-gravity work as lacking rigorous mathematical support.

In experimental work, Borg investigated high-voltage electrohydrodynamic (EHD) thrusters, also known as "lifters" or ionocraft. His experiments concluded that such devices produce thrust by accelerating ionized air (an ion wind) and do not operate in a vacuum, a finding consistent with the mainstream understanding that lifters are not anti-gravity devices. He has additionally published proposals on nuclear structure (a variable-phase nuclear model intended to derive the nuclear "magic numbers") and critiques of the wave-particle duality concept in quantum mechanics.

Borg's theoretical claims are not accepted within mainstream physics, and his relativity-related arguments in particular have been disputed by academic critics. His experimental characterization of lifter devices, by contrast, aligns with conventional physical explanations of those systems.
