Bill D. Nichols is an American atmospheric scientist and meteorologist based in DeWitt, Iowa, who is known for connecting his work in weather science, energy research and aerospace engineering to the Electric Universe model.
Biography
Nichols resides in DeWitt, Iowa, where he has also operated a family farm for several decades. He has stated that his farm operations gave him insights into the interactions among weather, life and electromagnetic phenomena.
Before his career in atmospheric science, Nichols served in the United States Air Force, where he reported working on aerospace and defense projects including the F-117A Stealth Fighter, the B-2 bomber and the Strategic Defense Initiative (popularly known as "Star Wars"). He also described involvement in energy-related research that he associated with reported anomalies such as cold fusion, or Low Energy Nuclear Reactions (LENR).
Work
Nichols has worked as an atmospheric scientist with the United States National Weather Service (part of NOAA within the Department of Commerce). His research has ranged from small-scale severe weather projects and product applications to larger-scale questions of climate change.
Nichols argues that electromagnetic factors are significant drivers of climate variability, and he links his weather and energy research to the Electric Universe model, which holds that electric currents and electromagnetic forces play a major role in shaping physical processes from the atmospheric to the cosmic scale. He presented a talk titled "Personal Strategic Experiences: Electric Universe—Are We Limiting Ourselves?" at the Electric Universe 2013 (EU2013) conference held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on January 3–6, 2013. In that presentation he described how past high-level United States Air Force, Navy and Army projects, in his view, support the Electric Universe model, and he offered examples he considered supportive of electromagnetic components as drivers of climate variance.
