José Francisco García Juliá is a Spanish independent researcher based in Valencia, Spain, who works on alternative interpretations of the cosmological redshift. He is known for proposing non-expansion, "tired light" mechanisms in which light loses energy through interaction with other electromagnetic radiation, offering an account of the redshift of distant galaxies that does not require an expanding universe.
Biography
García Juliá is an independent researcher working in Valencia, Spain. He has published a series of short papers on cosmology, appearing in the alternative-cosmology journal Apeiron: Studies in Infinite Nature and on the electronic preprint archive viXra, in which he develops and defends a tired-light view of the cosmological redshift.
Work
García Juliá's principal work concerns the origin of the cosmological redshift, the shift toward longer wavelengths observed in the light of distant galaxies. In place of the standard interpretation, in which the redshift is attributed to the expansion of the universe, he proposes a "tired light" model in which photons gradually lose energy as they travel through space.
In his papers he argues that a single mechanism, based on the interaction between electromagnetic waves, can account for both the cosmological redshift and so-called intrinsic redshifts, without invoking cosmic expansion. In one formulation he suggests that redshift is produced when light interacts with microwave radiation, causing a progressive loss of photon energy with distance. These ideas place his work within the tradition of non-standard, alternative cosmology.
