Sergey G. Fedosin (Russian: Сергей Григорьевич Федосин) is a Russian physicist based in Perm, Russia. He is known for developing the covariant theory of gravitation, a modernized Le Sage and graviton-based model of gravity, and the concept of the Infinite Hierarchical Nesting of Matter. Much of his work has been self-published and disseminated through online repositories and open academic publishers.
Biography
Fedosin specialized in radiophysics at Perm State University in Perm, Russia, completing his studies in 1978. He subsequently worked as a scientific researcher at the Natural Science Institute (ENI) of Perm State University, from which he later retired.
His research interests span gravitation, relativity theory, astrophysics, and condensed matter physics. He has authored numerous publications in these areas, many appearing in international journals as well as in books issued by open-access and self-publishing outlets.
Work
Fedosin's principal line of research is a series of alternative theories of gravitation. In 1999 he presented the Lorentz-invariant theory of gravitation (LITG), formulated for inertial reference frames to describe effects associated with the finite propagation speed of gravitation and with a gravitational torsion field. In 2002 he published work developing an extended special theory of relativity (ESTR).
In 2009 Fedosin published the covariant theory of gravitation (CTG), which generalizes LITG to non-inertial reference frames. In CTG, gravitation is treated as a physical force acting on matter rather than as a manifestation of spacetime curvature; the theory adopts a modernized version of Le Sage's mechanism, in which gravitational effects arise from fluxes of gravitons acting on matter, and in which the observed geometric properties of spacetime are held to depend on the sources of energy and energy flux present in a reference frame. In the weak-field limit CTG reduces to LITG.
A further theme in Fedosin's work is the Infinite Hierarchical Nesting of Matter, a similarity- and scaling-based framework relating physical systems across different size scales, from elementary particles to stars and larger structures. With Sergey A. Kim of Perm State University he also proposed an electron-ionic model of ball lightning.
Fedosin has published books through LAP Lambert Academic Publishing, including a two-volume work on physical theories and the infinite hierarchical nesting of matter, and has posted many preprints and essays to open repositories such as Wikiversity and viXra.
