Galilean Electrodynamics (GED) is a peer-reviewed dissident physics journal devoted to critical examinations of accepted theory in physics, with a particular emphasis on challenges to Einstein's special and general relativity and on alternative treatments of electrodynamics. Since its founding it has been one of the principal venues in which the modern dissident-physics community has published sustained, technical criticism of relativity, and many papers and authors documented on this wiki first appeared in its pages.
History
The journal was founded in 1990 by Petr Beckmann (1924–1993), a Czech-born professor of electrical engineering at the University of Colorado whose 1987 book Einstein Plus Two set out an alternative, Galilean-relativity account of electrodynamics. Galilean Electrodynamics grew directly out of that work and out of Beckmann's wider effort to provide a forum for physicists dissatisfied with the relativistic orthodoxy.
After Beckmann's death in 1993 the editorship passed to the physicist Howard C. Hayden, who continued the journal from Storrs, Connecticut. In 1997 Cynthia Kolb Whitney became editor, and she has served as editor and publisher since, issuing the journal through her firm Space Time Analyses, Ltd. Hayden is credited as emeritus editor. Under Whitney the journal for a time also carried a supplementary section, GED-East (later GED Plus), for more speculative contributions.
Scope
The journal's stated aim is to publish high-quality scientific papers that discuss challenges to accepted orthodoxy in physics, especially in the realm of relativity theory, both special and general. In practice its contents range across the reinterpretation of relativistic effects, classical and Galilean electrodynamics, the nature of light and the aether, gravitation, and the foundations of physics. Submissions are peer-reviewed, and the journal has published both critiques of mainstream theory and constructive alternative models.
Publication
Galilean Electrodynamics was originally issued bimonthly, six numbers to an annual volume; in later years it moved off a regular schedule and now appears irregularly. Back issues from 1990 onward are made available in PDF form through the journal's website. It carries the ISSN 1047-4811 and is published from Redmond, Washington.
