Alfred Klaar is an author and inventor in the field of alternative energy, known for promoting the idea that water and hydrogen can replace gasoline and diesel as fuels. He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.
Work
Klaar operates the website klaar.at, on which he publishes an extensive self-authored energy encyclopedia (described on the site as roughly 1,000 pages) together with critical commentary on conventional "green" energy solutions such as battery-electric cars and fuel cells. He argues that suppressed or overlooked energy technologies, and in particular the use of water and hydrogen as an energy source, could end dependence on oil. He has publicised a hydrogen-engine patent application. His claims about water replacing gasoline and diesel fall outside the accepted physics and engineering consensus, and mainstream commentators have been sharply critical of "water car" proposals generally.
