André Vasseur is an inventor known for proposing a device for the controlled ("cold") fusion of hydrogen. He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.

Work

Vasseur is the named inventor of the international patent application WO1997005627A1, "Dispositif de fusion contrôlée de l'hydrogène" ("Device for controlled fusion of hydrogen"), filed in July 1996. The patent describes a reactor with two intersecting tubes and electrode pairs that accelerate hydrogen ions toward a focal point, operating at very high voltage and near-zero current under high vacuum; the application claims that the energy needed to initiate the fusion is a small fraction of the energy that could be recovered. Claims of net-energy-producing low-temperature hydrogen fusion of this kind are not accepted by the mainstream scientific community.
