Anthony J. Abruzzo is an author of a series of papers proposing an alternative account of the origin and formation of the Solar System. He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.

Ideas

Between 2008 and 2009 Abruzzo published several papers on the General Science Journal in which he challenges the conventional nebular hypothesis and Big Bang cosmology. He proposes that the planets already existed before being captured by the Sun, which he holds was formerly a gas giant, and he argues that gas-giant planets can be transformed into rocky planets. He suggests brown dwarf stars as a "missing link" in this process. These proposals lie outside the scientific mainstream.

His papers include "Are Planets the End Products Rather than the By-Products of Stellar [Evolution]", "Formation and Age of the Solar System", "Brown Dwarf Stars – The 'Missing Link'", "The Transformation of Gas Giant Planets into Rocky Planets", "The Planet Migration Hypothesis – Saving the Paradigm", and "The Origins of the Nebular Hypothesis".
