Boris Pogorelsky is a researcher known for co-authoring work that questions the conventional interpretation of time in Albert Einstein's special theory of relativity. He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.

Work

With Yefim Bakman (Tel-Aviv University), Pogorelsky wrote "The Notion of Time in Special Relativity" (2007), which argues that physics lacks a constructive definition of the concepts of time and space. The authors propose that each physical magnitude should be treated as a feature of some physical carrier, and they attempt to identify the carrier associated with time. On that basis they contend that, for want of such a definition, certain experiments have been erroneously interpreted as evidence of time dilation. This position runs counter to the mainstream understanding of relativity.
