Carlo Santagata is a researcher in theoretical physics who maintains a personal website devoted to his work on celestial mechanics and the foundations of gravitation. He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.
Work
Santagata's writings discuss what he calls the paradoxes of Newtonian celestial mechanics and the singularities that arise in modern physics, in both quantum mechanics and general relativity. He proposes a mechanism he terms "photogravitons" as a probable cause of gravity, and argues that it offers a way to remove these singularities and to move toward a unification of gravity with the other known interactions.
He acknowledges relativity and quantum mechanics as major intellectual achievements, but argues that their treatment of gravity and of certain limiting cases is incomplete. His positions lie outside the accepted physical mainstream, and his papers are self-published on his own website rather than in peer-reviewed physics journals.
