Christos A. Tsolkas (Greek: Χρήστος Τσόλκας) is a Greek researcher and author known for a body of self-published work rejecting Einstein's theory of relativity and arguing for the physical existence of the ether. He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.
Ideas
Tsolkas maintains that the theory of relativity is false and that space is not empty but is instead a medium he calls the ether. In his model the ether is composed of charged particles he terms "electrins" — positive electrins (+q₀) and negative electrins (−q₀) — so that the space between celestial bodies, ordinarily described as a void, is treated as a region highly charged with these particles. He argues that the speed of light is not constant for all inertial observers, contrary to special relativity, and he presents a series of proposed experiments intended to demonstrate the existence of the ether.
Related to this work is what he calls the Electrogravitational Theory (EGT), in which fundamental particles (including positive and negative electrins and gravitons) are modeled as solid spheres, and atomic nuclei and electrons are said to attract or repel the ether's electrins. These positions lie outside the accepted scientific consensus, which regards relativity as extensively confirmed and does not recognize a luminiferous ether.
Tsolkas has commented on high-profile physics topics from this perspective, including the 2011 OPERA "faster-than-light neutrino" measurement, which he interpreted through his ether framework before the result was found to be an experimental error.
