Elie Agur is an author and independent theorist known for a series of papers proposing an alternative account of gravity based on a postulated "mass-energy field" (MEF), and for the chess book Bobby Fischer: His Approach to Chess. They are listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.
Physics work
Agur has written a group of papers, circulated through the alternative-physics site mrelativity.net, that seek to revise the foundations of gravitation and relativity. In "On an Inherent Relationship Between Newton's Gravitation and Einstein's Special Relativity" they attempt to link Newton's gravitation equation with Special Relativity. In related work, "On New Concepts of Weight and Gravity and their Bearing on Relativity," they introduce a distinction between "self-weight" and "acquired weight" and a corresponding redefinition of gravity, built on the assumption that subatomic particles are surrounded by a "mass-energy field" (MEF). In their account, an MEF emanates from a body's centre of mass and spreads outward in loops resembling a magnetic field, and the interaction of two such fields produces the mutual attraction of bodies. Agur has also presented alternative mathematical formulations of the Special and General theories of relativity and a proposed theory of atomic structure.
These proposals lie outside mainstream physics, in which gravitation is described by general relativity and mass-energy relations by established relativistic mechanics.
Chess
Agur is the author of Bobby Fischer: His Approach to Chess (Cadogan Chess / Everyman Chess, 1992), an analytical study of the games and style of the American world chess champion Bobby Fischer, and of the poetry collection Poems of Time and Space.
