Forrest W. Noble is an independent researcher and theorist known for developing the "Pan Theory" (also written Pantheory), a proposed alternative to the Big Bang cosmology and to Einstein's geometric theory of gravity. He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.

Ideas

Noble presents Pan Theory as a mechanical, field-based alternative to standard cosmology. In his account the universe originates not from an expanding Big Bang but from a single most-elementary particle that divides and multiplies over time, progressively generating matter, energy and structure. He proposes that observed galactic redshifts result from a gradual diminishing of matter rather than from the expansion of space, and he interprets cosmological observations as favouring this alternative over the Lambda-Cold-Dark-Matter model.

For gravity, Noble rejects the notion of "warped space" and instead attributes gravitational attraction to differences in the density and flow of a background field surrounding matter, an approach he likens to classical aether-style field theories. He describes his framework as emphasising conceptual and mechanical explanation over pure mathematical formalism.

Publications

Noble, often writing with co-author T. M. Cooper, has circulated his ideas in independent and non-mainstream venues. Papers attributed to him include "Observations that Seem to Contradict the Big Bang Model While at the Same Time Support an Alternative Cosmology" (American International Journal of Research, 2014) and "An Alternative Universe-Scale Analytic Metrology and Related Cosmological Model: An Analysis of Type 1a Supernovae Data" (Applied Physics Research, 2014), along with further essays posted online.
