Chandramohanan M R is an Indian mathematician based in Trivandrum, Kerala, India. A former Professor of Mathematics, he is known for his work on classical problems in number theory and for his critical writings on the foundations of physics, particularly the concept of time in electrodynamics and the special theory of relativity.

Biography

Chandramohanan lives in Trivandrum (Thiruvananthapuram), the capital of the Indian state of Kerala. He served as a Professor of Mathematics at Narayanaguru College of Engineering before continuing independent research and writing in mathematics and the foundations of physics.

Chandramohanan's research has spanned both pure mathematics and the critical examination of physical theory.

Mathematics

He has proposed an elementary approach to Fermat's Last Theorem. In "A Simple Elementary Proof of Fermat's Last Theorem" (2024), he argues that the Fermat Diophantine equation xn = yn + zn can be reduced to an equation of degree (n − 1) that has no positive rational roots, treating the case of any odd prime n and, by reductio ad absurdum with a cubic polynomial, the case n = 4. In the same work he also addresses Beal's conjecture.

Foundations of physics

Chandramohanan has written on the concept of time in physics. In "A Brief Account of the Concepts of Time in the Pre-relativistic Electrodynamics and STR" (2024), he reviews how time is treated in classical electrodynamics and in Einstein's special theory of relativity, contributing to the ongoing critical discussion of relativistic notions of time and simultaneity.
