Eric T. Lefèvre is a researcher associated with the theory of scale relativity, developed by the French astrophysicist Laurent Nottale at the Paris Observatory (Meudon). He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.

Work

Lefèvre co-authored two papers applying scale relativity to the structure of planetary systems, both in 2000: "Scale relativity and quantization of exoplanet orbital semi-major axes" (with L. Nottale and G. Schumacher), published in Astronomy & Astrophysics (vol. 361, p. 379), and "Scale relativity and quantization of planetary systems" (with L. Nottale and P. Galopeau), published in Physics and Chemistry of the Earth. Scale relativity extends the principle of relativity to scale transformations by giving up the assumption that spacetime is differentiable, which implies a fractal, non-differentiable spacetime; its proponents use it to attempt a derivation of quantum-like behavior and to predict preferred ("quantized") orbital distances in planetary and exoplanetary systems. The theory lies outside the mainstream of accepted physics.
