Youngsinn Sohn is an independent researcher and author based in Ellicott City, Maryland, United States, known for work relating the cosmology of the ancient Sanskrit Rigveda to modern plasma cosmology and Electric Universe ideas. Sohn is a member of the Natural Philosophy Society (Council for Natural Philosophy Studies).

Biography

Sohn resides in Ellicott City, Maryland. Working independently of mainstream academia, Sohn studied the original Vedic and Sanskrit texts of the Rigveda and compared their imagery with concepts drawn from plasma physics and the Electric Universe and Plasma Universe schools of thought.

Work

Sohn's principal work is the book The Magneto-Plasma Cosmology of the Ṛgveda (Rig Veda): An Alternative to the Big Bang Theory, self-published in 2020, with a second edition issued on March 31, 2021 (ISBN 9781734673012, 333 pages).

In the book, Sohn translates and interprets 328 selected stanzas from the ten maṇḍalas of the Rigveda, together with six stanzas from the Kaṭha Upaniṣad, the Siddhāntaśiromaṇi, and the Sūryasiddhānta, from the original Vedic and Sanskrit. Sohn argues that these ancient hymns describe how galactic systems are created and sustained through mechanisms of cosmic ionization and cosmic plasma discharge and release, and presents this reading as an alternative to the mainstream Big Bang model. Sohn relates the Vedic symbolism associated with cosmic creation to observations reported by NASA space probes and space telescopes.
