Jimmy E Touma is an American physicist based in Shalimar, Florida, United States. He is known in the dissident-science community for his interest in plasma cosmology.
Biography
Touma lives in Shalimar, Florida, a community adjacent to Eglin Air Force Base in the Florida Panhandle. He works as a research physicist with the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) Munitions Directorate at Eglin Air Force Base, where he is a member of the Optoelectronics and Photonics Group in the Seekers Branch.
Work
Touma's professional research concerns optical and photonic materials, including the design of hybrid nano-optical systems and the characterization of photonic crystals, metamaterials and metasurfaces. Related topics in his group include metalens design and modeling, in which metasurfaces are used as optically thin metamaterials to shape and control the wavefront of light.
He is a co-author of the paper "Wide-band self-collimation in a low-refractive-index hexagonal lattice", published in Optics Letters 46(9), 2228–2231 (2021), with Chun Xia, Stephen M. Kuebler, Noel P. Martinez, Manuel Martinez and Raymond C. Rumpf. The work demonstrated wide-angle, broadband self-collimation of near-infrared light spanning 1360 to 1610 nm in a hexagonal photonic crystal fabricated in a low-refractive-index photopolymer by multiphoton lithography.
