Arkadiusz Jadczyk (born October 27, 1943) is a Polish theoretical and mathematical physicist known for his work on the foundations of quantum theory, in particular Event-Enhanced Quantum Theory (EEQT) and quantum fractals. He is a research scholar affiliated with the Ronin Institute and is associated with the Quantum Future Group Inc.

Biography

Jadczyk studied theoretical physics at the University of Wrocław in Poland, receiving his M.Sc. with high distinction in 1966, his Ph.D. in 1970, and his habilitation in 1977. He spent most of his academic career at the Institute of Theoretical Physics of the University of Wrocław, serving as assistant professor (1970–1986), associate professor (1986–1990), and full professor (from 1990), where he headed the Department of Nonlinear Dynamics and Complex Systems. He was awarded the scientific titles of Professor Extraordinary (1982) and Professor Ordinary (1987).

Later in his career he worked as a contractor scientist for Constellation Technology Corporation in Florida (1998–2001) and as a guest professor at the C.A.I.R.O.S. center of the University Paul Sabatier in Toulouse, France (2007–2012). He currently resides in Castelsarrasin, in the Tarn-et-Garonne department of France.

Work

Jadczyk's research spans mathematical physics, quantum mechanics, and differential geometry, including applications of algebraic and differential geometric methods to quantum theory, Clifford algebras, theories of gravitation, Kaluza-Klein theories, non-commutative geometry, and fractals in physics.

In collaboration with Philippe Blanchard of the University of Bielefeld, he developed Event-Enhanced Quantum Theory (EEQT), an approach that gives a definite meaning to the concepts of experiment, measurement, and event, and yields a piecewise deterministic algorithm generating quantum jumps, classical events, and the histories of single quantum objects. He also worked extensively on quantum fractals, which are the subject of his book Quantum Fractals: From Heisenberg's Uncertainty to Barnsley's Fractality (2014). He is the author of more than ninety scientific publications.

Honors

  • Alexander von Humboldt Foundation Award (1995), granted for his work on Event-Enhanced Quantum Theory.
  • Awards of the Polish Ministry of Science and the Polish Academy of Sciences (1970–1996).
