<address>Born in Surpierre, Switzerland, Dr. Thierrin obtained his License (1948) and Doctorat (1951) degrees in Mathematics at Universit? de Fribourg. He went on to earn a State Doctorat in Mathematics at the Universit? de Paris in 1954. His career began as a Research Assistant and Associate Professor in France and Switzerland until he accepted a professorship in the D?partement de Math?matiques at the Universit? de Montr?al, Canada in 1958.
