==Abstract==

Woods-Saxon potentials are shown to provide an accurate representation of <img border="0" alt="Lambda" align="bottom" src="http://physicsessays.aip.org/stockgif3/Lgr.gif" />-nucleus binding energies in A = 5 &#8722; 16 hypernuclei. In total, 19 hypernuclei are considered in this paper. The model is generally within 600 keV of the experimental binding energy, although the <img border="0" alt="Lambda" align="bottom" src="http://physicsessays.aip.org/stockgif3/Lgr.gif" />&nbsp;Be prediction is an exception at 1.24 MeV larger than the experimental binding energy. A dependence upon the baryon number and core neutron minus proton number is suggested by the model interaction. Since the <img border="0" alt="Lambda" align="bottom" src="http://physicsessays.aip.org/stockgif3/Lgr.gif" />&nbsp;model assumes the&nbsp; particle is in the lowest s-state, the model potential reveals no spin-dependent information. In spite of the simplicity of our model, we obtain results that are comparable to recent model calculations.
