Arun Kumar Pal is a researcher known for proposing an alternative model of the photon in which its wave and particle properties coexist rather than being complementary. He is listed in The Worldwide List of Dissident Scientists.
Work
With co-author D. Pal, he published "A new concept of photon having coexistent wave-particle duality" in the journal Physics Essays (Vol. 25, Issue 1, March 2012). Starting from Planck's hypothesis, the paper proposes a concept of the photon in which both wave and particle properties are held to coexist simultaneously, which the authors argue offers a simpler picture of the underlying physical processes. This view departs from the standard quantum-mechanical treatment of wave-particle duality as complementary aspects observed under different experimental conditions.
